Sensors for snow depth measurement
How to measure snow depth?
Snow depth is measured using an ultrasonic snow depth sensor, which measures the distance to the ground below it. Ultrasonic transducers emit pulses and listen for echoes returning from the ground surface. The distance measurement is based on the time delay between the transmission of the pulse and the return time of the echo. An independent temperature measurement is required to compensate for the change in the speed of sound in the air with temperature. In the absence of snow, the sensor output is normalized to zero.
The DYP ultrasonic distance measuring sensor measures the distance between the sensor and the ground below it. Small size, designed for easy integration into your project or product.
